you’re a great friend | tutorial

Hi everyone! I’ve got a new tutorial to share with you today featuring Karen Burniston’s Thanks Pop `n Cuts (PNC) insert plus a few other Sizzix dies. I’m also using some awesome papers from Simple Stories, they are quickly becoming a new favorite for me.

Let’s make the card!

1-cut-cover

Cut your main card base out of patterned paper using the Sizzix Pop `n Cuts XL Die base tray. Fold your card in half and then round your top left and right corners. The lower corners are automatically cut thanks to the PNC base tray.

2-cut-label

Use the Labels & Buttons die to cut a label shape out. Stamp your sentiment onto the label and ink the edges.

3-front

Outline your card with a black pen and assemble your card front. Layer two coordinating paper strips on the front of your card and then add your label onto the center of those strips. The front of your card is complete!

5-thanks-pnc

On to the inside! Add your PNC Thanks insert into your PNC base tray. Make sure your tick marks line up.

6-inside-paper

Cut your inside piece of patterned paper to 4” x 11” and lay it right side down onto your Thanks PNC insert, centering between the PNC main cut lines. Run your die and paper through your Big Shot machine. By trimming your paper to 4” wide, you will be creating a small border on the inside of your card when it is fully assembled.

7-thanks

Once your Thanks PNC piece is cut, fold according to package directions. You’re basically making four folds. One at the top shelf, one above the word (or image), one at the bottom of the word (or image), and then the final fold is at the base of the card where the card folds in half. easy-peasy! Once you can fold one Pop `n Cut, you can fold them all!

8-create-edge

Fold your Thanks PNC piece of paper in half and lay it down onto the front of the Brackets On The Edge Die. You are cutting the edges on the opposite side of the fold. Secure it down with removable tape or a Post It Note (I used some Washi tape!). Run your die through your Big Shot to give your patterned paper ends a decorative edge.

9-thanks-sizzlits

Outline your Thanks PNC piece of paper with a black pen and glue it to the inside of your card base. Use the Thanks Sizzlits set to cut out “thanks” and glue the letters onto the front of your Thanks PNC piece. The insert die and Sizzlit set coordinate perfectly giving a nice border to the word thanks!

10-stars

Use your PNC Base Tray to cut one star from the Movers & Shapers Star & Circle set.

11-inside

To finish off the inside of your card, add a thin strip of coordinating patterned paper towards the bottom of the card and add the stars as shown in the example.
