Simon Says Stamp haul video – lots of inks!

I’m officially doing my first haul video. I recently got an order from Simon Says Stamp and I wanted to share my new stamps and inks.

I wanted to send out a THANK YOU to the wonderful Laurel. When I was deciding on my new inks, she really helped me out. Thank you my friend, you rock! She’s a seriously talented lady so I recommend checking out her blog and YouTube channel for lots of inspiration.

On with the video

I got several inks and wanted to include an up-close view of all of them:

weekend recap… and Monday too!

It was an amazing weekend. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been so inspired creatively. Actually, this weekend and True Scrap made me think about a lot of things, including how I create, what kind of rut I might be stuck in, and how I want to change that. I’m excited to implement some of my ideas.

On Friday I was doing this…

Watching True Scrap live and coloring images from my Critters Ever After stamp set.

On Saturday my prize from Crafter’s Companion came that I won on Facebook…

These Spectrum Noir markers are alcohol based, similar to Copics. I have not ever used the Copics so I wont be able to compare. I’m hoping I like these because they certainly have a better price point. I’m looking forward to trying them out this week.

On Sunday I played with my Sizzix eclips and eCAL software…

I’m learning as I go with this machine… thank goodness it’s super easy to use! I am really liking it! Sizzix also has a ton of videos on their site if I need any guidance. The “love” above is my handwriting. How cool is that?!

I made myself a journaling card too. I am so glad that I finally got to sit and just play with the software. The possibilities of what I’m going to be able to do between the cartridges and software is endless.

Next I’m working on this…

On to Monday…

On Saturday and Sunday my husband rode in the MS150. Sometimes the Monday following he stays home but not always. This year he was extremely sore (Saturday it was super windy while he was riding) so he stayed home and we hung out, doing a whole lot of nothing. We also went to lunch. That turned into a lunch coma and me falling a sleep on the couch, lol! He then pulled out his camera and showed me some photos from the ride.

These are two of my favorites.

The guy in the red shirt… he’s on a unicycle. My husband has seen him over the years on the ride. I have no idea what his name is but we just call him unicycle guy! I think this ride is a huge task anyway, but on a unicycle, that’s just amazing!

This one is my favorite. My husband… his shadow at least. His view. His tire (which at one point he got a flat!).

I’m a proud wifey. :-)

Have a wonderful week!

hello True Scrap friends and some Pop-Up info

Yesterday was a pretty amazing day! I presented my Jumpstart Your Art class for True Scrap 3 and I think it went pretty darn well! If you’re here visiting my blog for the first time because you’re a True Scrap student, feel free to say hello.

Spoiler alert – my class contained a pop-up (as well as lots of other ideas!). If you’ve visited my blog before, I am sure this is no surprise. I had a lot of questions in the Q&A portion of my class about them so I wanted to share a few more resources on the pop-ups and where you can find them (there’s information in your handout but I wanted to include some here also).

Pop-Up Info

The videos on Karen’s YouTube channel are very helpful and show just how easy they are to assemble. I highly recommend checking it out.

Today’s Agenda

More True Scrap! I’m rather excited for day 2. It’ll just be me and my youngest since the bigs are working and the man is riding in the MS150. I’m hoping to make something and play with my eclips. For some reason I find it hard to actually get anything done on the weekends but maybe today will be different since there are less people home. Can’t forget the two cute Puggles small fry and I get to visit today too!!!

Happy Saturday, thanks so much for stopping by!

sending you warm wishes card |tutorial

I’ve got a new card and photo tutorial to share with you today. This elegant Sending You Warm Wishes card features the Floating Frames Pop-Up Die by Karen Burniston and a few other great Sizzix dies. I also used some of my new My Mind’s Eye papers designed by Rhonna Farrerlove them!

To start, cut a 4-1/2” x 5-1/2” vertical card base (a standard A2 card). Decorate the outside of the card by layering a piece of patterned paper onto the card front. Use your Big Shot to cut one Styled Label die and a small and large Scroll from the Crown, Medallion & Scrolls Sizzlit set.

Stamp sentiment onto the left hand portion of label and ink edges. Add label to front of card and cut off excess. Assemble pieces on front of card as shown. Ink edges on all four sides of the card front.

For the inside, cut your inside piece using the Floating Frames die.

Add adhesive to the back two sides, make sure to use extra strong adhesive for this step.

Next, start assembling your card. Add a patterned paper strip towards the bottom of your inside card base and then adhere your die cut piece to the inside following package directions. Karen has also made a very helpful video about how to assemble the Floating Frames Die. Ink inside edges of the card.

Cut one label from the Celebrate Sizzlit set and ink edges. Stamp sentiment on label and glue down to the floating frame on the right side.

Cut one Medallion from the Crown, Medallion & Scrolls Sizzlit set as well as another small and large scroll from the same set. Add medallion to the floating frame on the left side and add the small scroll underneath so it sticks out just a bit (make sure the scroll is inside the card when closed). Add larger scroll to the lower right hand side.

Add flowers and pearls to the outside and pearls to the inside of your card as shown in the main example.

All done! I am really happy with how it turned out. Making cards like this with an interactive element really give it a wow factor I think.

Other: messages4friends (The Stamps of Life), Smoke: Weave cardstock (American Crafts), Polar Ice cardstock (Core’dinations Foundations), pearls (Stampin’ Up), flowers (Prima).
The countdown is on! On Friday, the awesome two day event that is True Scrap 3 kicks off. There’s still time to join in so register today.
