Sizzix Bigz Pop-Up Dies by Karen Burniston

cha-projects

I was lucky enough to get to make some fun samples with Karen Burniston’s new dies for the CHA Winter 2011 show. Here’s a link to each of the different samples for easy reference:

There are also three Sizzlets sets (examples of them are used on various projects listed above):

  • Sizzix Sizzlet Die Set 3PK - Crown, Medallion, & Scrolls
  • Sizzix Sizzlet Die Set 3PK - Celebrate
  • Sizzix Sizzlet Die Set 3PK - Butterfly, Flower, & Swirl

For more examples, check out Tara and Bonnie’s blogs.

Thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoyed all the new dies and examples of how to use them.

Sizzix Bigz XL Photo Wheel

This is the last of the new Bigz dies by Karen Burniston for Sizzix. For some reason, I was most intimidated by this die and it turned out to be my favorite! It was also the easiest. I love that it spins… every time you turn the dial it’s like finding a hidden treasure. It’s pretty awesome! Karen is a genius… seriously! There is a video underneath each project photo that shows the die in action, be sure to check it out.

We’re on the second to last of the new releases! So many dies, so much fun! The round shape of the Scallop Circle die is awesome to use. There are two places on the pop-up to adhere whatever you’d like so it makes the die very versatile.

I used two different Sizzlet sets on this card. The medallion is so pretty and I love the crown. I have a feeling I’m going to get a lot of use out of the word “celebrate.”

in creative mode

:-)

I’m currently working on CHA samples for Karen Burniston using her awesome pop-up dies. I can’t show anything yet – have to wait until the show – but wanted to share that I hadn’t fallen off the face of the earth. I’m here, just busy creating. I even made a special trip to Archiver’s today to buy some new papers to use. Not gonna lie, I’m kind of in love with the Fine and Dandy line by Jen Allyson for My Mind’s Eye. cute stuff! seriously cute!

Lawnscaping Challenge #1

I was excited to participate in the first Lawnscaping ChallengeI love Lawn Fawn stamps so it’s a perfect fit. The first challenge: all about snow.

Here’s my take on the challenge:

thanks-lawn-fawn

I went for a cute card using the Critters in the Snow set and a Lawn Fawn Thanks stamp... I love that little polar bear! The snowflakes are embossed with white. I really like all the white combined with just a bit of color. :-)

Supplies: white Bazzill cardstock, Scenic Route from my stash, Critters in the Snow set and Thanks stamp (Lawn Fawn), Seafoam White Embossing Powder (Ranger), chalk ink (Orchid Pastel, ColorBox), Open Scallop Punch (EK Success).

fyi… white is really hard to photograph!

card: you’re how old?

youre-how-old-1youre-how-old-2

Thursday was my husbands birthday and about 15 minutes before the first child arrived how from school, I realized I still hasn’t made him a card. I needed to make him something quick, a few Sizzix dies later and grabbing papers from my scrap drawer I came up with this. I think it turned out pretty good.

Supplies: cardstock (Bazzill), patterned paper and sentiment sticker (Scenic Route), number stickers (Thickers, American Crafts), Spinning Platform Die (Sizzix), Styled Labels Die (Sizzix), Big Shot (Sizzix).

Next on my creative agenda

Lawnscaping Challenge – I’m planning on doing Challenge 1 today, the deadline is Wednesday. I love this idea because I love Lawn Fawn stamps. There are prizes involved so be sure to check it out. Laurel Beard came up with the idea of Lawnscaping, she’s super sweet (and talented too!) so be sure to check out her blog.

December Daily 2010 Album – finish cover! I am so close to being done!!! I did a title  page and finished of the back page. The cover is on my work surface ready to be completed. I just need to stamp two things and then glue everything down. Getting back into the swing of things with the kids back in school took longer than I thought.

CHA Samples for Karen Burniston – I’m so excited to make things with her new dies. Making stuff for her is motivating me to get the other two things completed. I helped her kit for her class on Friday and oh goodness! love the dies!

Happy creating and have a great week!

“do”

I’ve been fighting with my one little word this year. It didn’t come to me as easily as in years past. Honestly, I think I was asking a lot of a word. I wanted a word that would encompass all that I want to accomplish, focus on, deal with, one that would help me get to my goals… all I wanted to do.

Then the obvious came to me… do. My word is DO. do-wordDo? Seriously? A two letter word is my word for the year? The more I looked at it, the more I fought it. I really tried to go with the word accomplish, I even commented on Ali’s blog post that it was my word but some how, it didn’t feel right, it felt forced. I kept flip flopping. In the end, I knew that do was my word. It’s my year to do.

Like the Nike slogan, “just do it.” No more excuses, no more second guessing, no more over thinking, just doing.

I wish I had some eloquent way to explain it. It makes sense in my head and I guess that’s all that matters. It's just weird to think that a two letter word is my word for the year... but it says so much! In 2011 I am going to DO.

Words of years past… 2008 was focus, 2009 was determined, and 2010 was positive.

What exactly do I want to do?  Be more open, lose the stupid 8 pounds that are killing my self esteem and making my jeans fit tight, move more, eat less, have more patience, not be so anxious and overwhelmed, create more… I mean really create for me, without caring what anyone thinks. That’s just some of it, I’m going to work on the being more open part, just don’t need to lay it all out there today… I’m a work in progress.

Happy New Year! Here’s to getting a lot done in 2011! (because done is the past tense of do, right?)
