lo: happy mug

A layout. An actual layout. For a scrapbooker, I make a lot of cards! ha! That’s okay. Ebb and flow I say! Sometimes it’s fun to make whatever you want because it make you happy. I started scrapbooking in 1999 and if I’ve learned anything it’s to just go with the flow and not force it. If I don’t feel like making a layout, then I’m probably not going to try and make one. Sometimes being creative in some way is enough. Of course if I have a deadline it’s a whole different ball game! I did start to miss actual scrapping though and I was watching my stack of photos pile up… I was getting the urge to make a page! so, wa-la! I scrapbooked!

This layout makes me happy. And the mug… my happy mug. love it! Also, steel rule dies and felt go together amazingly! I am so pleased with how my title turned out. I was also pretty excited to use my new journaling stamps… I have a feeling they’ll be very used.

Supplies: white cardstock (Textured, Bazzill), patterned papers (A Walk in the Park collection, Echo Park), border punches – Scallop Sentiment and Threading Water (Fiskars), stamps (lines2journal, The Stamps of Life), title font (Butterfly Kisses, Sizzix), black pen (American Crafts), date stamp (office supply store), Lime Pastel chalk ink (ColorBox), Barn Door Distress Ink (Tim Holtz for Ranger), Zip Dry Paper Glue.

happy birthday card

(click on the above image to view the project larger)

I’m not sure what I love most about this… the fun papers, the cute stamps, or the cool pop-up. I’m just really happy that it all blended together so well (and quickly I might add!). The stamp set is another set from The Stamps of Life. The HappyBday2You set actually comes with 40 stamps in the set – talk about bang for your buck!

Supplies: My Minds Eye paper (Fine and Dandy True Blue Collection), stamps (HappyBday2You, The Stamps of Life), Gift Card Holder w/ Phrase Die Cut (Sizzix), XL Circle Squeeze Punch and L Circle Squeeze Punch (Fiskars), Scallop  Sentiment Border Punch (Fiskars), black pigment ink (American Crafts), Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink (Tim Holtz for Ranger).

I said that it came together quickly right? And I used a pop-up? Yes, pop-ups are quick! I used the Gift Card Holder Die and then covered up the part where the gift card would actually go to show off my sentiment. Here’s a little video of the die that Karen Burniston made so you can see for yourself how quickly it comes together:

Thanks for stopping by!

I have some adorable new stamps to play with from The {Stamps} of Life by Stephanie Barnardoh goodness! So many awesome designs to choose from. Don’t you just love this adorable cake stamp? It’s actually a couple of different ones and then you build it… and the stand! love it!

so glad we’re buddies card

I made this cute card for the Lawnscaping and Wee Memories Cute and Cuddly co-challenge. I got to use some new stamp sets that I had but hadn’t had the chance to play with. The Critters in the Forest set arrived yesterday, they’re way cute! I love me some Lawn Fawn!

Supplies: cardstock (Bazzill), stamps: Teeny Tiny Backdrops, Smitty’s ABCs, and Critters in the Forest (Lawn Fawn), decorative chalks, VersaMark ink, black pigment ink (American Crafts).

Other stuff

I got nothing done during Spring Break. I’m okay with that. We had company, saw some alligators, went to the movies, stayed up late, and hung out… it was really nice doing whatever. I’m getting myself back into the swing of things now. After not making anything for a while though, I feel like I’m starting over in a way (don’t know if that makes sense or not but I now what I mean, lol!)… I’ve got to get reacquainted with my supplies (but that’s part of the fun!).

Have a great week!

if friends were flowers card

Another card using a Paper Crafts sketch (number 6). I really like the TI folder and the effect that it gives, so pretty and elegant.

Supplies: white cardstock (Bazzill), patterned paper (Sunshine and Tree Top; A Walk In The Park, Echo park), stamp sentiment (Hello Friend, Lawn Fawn), Large Edger Punch (Circles, EK Success), Textured Impressions (Dots & Flowers Set, Sizzix), flower die cut (Mini Occasions Set by Karen Burniston, Sizzix), XL You Bracket You Bought It squeeze punch (Fiskars), corner rounder (Fiskars).

Other Random Stuff

  • The kids have Spring Break next week.
  • We’ve got company coming on Sunday for a few days so I’ve been prepping for that.
  • Now that I’m busy with house/life stuff, creative ideas are running rampant… trying to remember to jot them all down.
  • Listening to the new Glee CD (of course I am!).
  • Counting down to getting the natural blonde put back in my hair. *cough cough*
  • Loving stamps. (just sayin’)
  • Rereading Twilight.
  • Addicted to American Idol (Steven Tyler is fantastically awesome!).
  • Absorbing every ounce of inspiration I get from Pinterest.
  • Needs to vacuum the couch… again (thanks to the cute dog shown in the previous blog entry).

Alright, that’s it! G out! Have a happy!

hello friend owl card

Recently Paper Crafts Magazine had a sketch call… there were tons of awesome sketches to choose from. This is my take on sketch #14... I took some liberties and switched it a bit. I love the colors on the kraft paper (I love any thing on kraft really, lol!).

Supplies: kraft cardstock (Bazzill), Hello Friend stamp (Lawn Fawn), My Mind’s Eye Fine and Dandy patterned paper (True Blue “Pleasant” and “Merry”), True Blue Layered Stickers (My Mind’s Eye), black pen (American Crafts), Distress Ink (Spiced Marmalade, Ranger).

Happy Monday!

happy birthday to my baby girl!

My baby girl is now 17… not so much of a baby anymore. They get to big, to fast. Way to fast. Here’s the card I made for her this year…

Echo Park meets Hero Arts meets Sizzix. love it!

Every card needs and envelope so I decorated one for her too…

Card supplies: Sizzix Bigz Die -  Card, Scallop Circle 3-D (Pop-Up) #657130, Sizzix Sizzlets Die Set – Celebrate #657127, “happy birthday” (Essential Messages, Hero Arts), Large Cupcake (Hero Arts), bling (Tickled Pink Bling, Fine and Dandy; My Mind’s Eye), black pigment ink, yellow dot paper on pop-up and blue paper for “celebrate” from my stash, white Bazzill cardstock, patterned papers – Rain Drops, Playful Stripes, and Sunshine (A Walk in the Park, Echo Park), Fiskars Round The Bend Squeeze Punch.

Envelope supplies: Butterfly Kisses font (Sizzix), “happy birthday” (Essential Messages, Hero Arts), patterned paper (Tree Tops, A Walk in the Park; Echo Park).

and one more thing…

For a little something extra, I made her a K for her room. I found the K at Hobby Lobby. It’s chipboard and pretty light. I added the paper, edged with white paint, coated it with Modge Podge and wa-la!

happy birthday baby girl! love you!

Lawnscaping Challenge #4

I really love paper piecing with stamps so challenge #4 from Lawnscaping was right up my alley! I used the Just My Type stamp set from Lawn Fawncute stuff! I missed challenge #3 so I definitely wanted to participate this time around.

Other stuff

I’m pretty much getting slammed with everyday life lately. Paying bills. Menu planning. Keeping schedules organized. Being a chauffeur. Dealing with appointments. Folding laundry. There’s a never ending list of at-home-mom duties I tell ya! My play time seems to have diminished. Ebb and flow… sometimes I’ve got plenty of time, other times… not so much.

A funny for the day

I bought two number candles today. A “one” and a “seven.” I kind of panicked for a second looking at them because I thought I bought “71” and not “17.” nice.

Hope you’re enjoying your Tuesday!
