my scrapbook room is featured on the CREATE: Blog

Cool! My scrapbook room is featured on the CREATE: Blog. You know, the fine folks from Scrapbook Trends, CARDS, and Simply Handmade magazines. Head on over and check it outI answer a whole bunch of questions too.

sb-room-oct-2010

I shared the original photos for my remodeled scrapbook room in June of 2009. You can find that post here: Scrapbook Room Complete. Other detailed links about changes, updates, what it looked like before, and before I even had a room can be found at the bottom of that post. If you’d like a video tour, check out this post: scrapbook room video tour.

Not much has changed since the above photo (taken Oct. 2010). I think we got Daisy a new rug… her dog bed turned into a chew toy and meant an untimely death.

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check out the article at the CREATE: Blog.

And a big thanks to Jen Gallacher for asking to feature my room! Ya’ll are awesome!

Have a great week!!!

39: embracing it

39 gscrapbooks

My internet is out. Woke up Thursday morning to no connection what so ever. The phone company is coming out to fix the line tomorrow. I’m “borrowing” from a neighbor… I’m such a rebel.

We had a nice Thanksgiving. Friday was a do nothing day. My husband went out in the morning… I happily stayed inside. Saturday we had a birthday in the house – my youngest turned 9. Today, it’s my turn. I wanted to be done having babies by the time I was 30, little man came and the next day I turned 30… mission accomplished.

And now… I’m 39. I’ve been kind of groaning about my birthday this year but I woke up this morning with my annoyingly positive attitude and decided what the heck, I’ll embrace it… because really, what other choice do I have. So, here’s to 39!!!

Happy Sunday! :-)

Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop Week 4: Hanging Frame

Welcome to week 4 of the Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop. If you’re here taking a break from turkey and pie then Happy Thanksgiving to you! So glad you’re here! This weeks featured die is Eileen Hull’s Frame and Frame Back with Stand. I decided not to use the stand and make my project hang instead so in an effort to give you the full effect… a video!

If you’re not into videos or have a problem playing it for some reason, may I present the two sides of my frame:

hangingframe-1hangingframe-2

I used a Crop-A-Dile to create the two holes in the frame. I used one long piece of ribbon and tied it off at the end so it can be placed on a hook to hang or you could use a flat thumbtack through the end and hang it directly from the ceiling.

Supplies: Frame and Frame Back with Stand Die #656835 by Eileen Hull, Sizzix Big Shot Pro, patterned paper (from my scrap drawer), white paint, flowers, buttons, Crop-A-Dile (We R Memory Keepers), ribbon, embroidery thread, alpha stamps, white cardstock.

Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop Week 3: thinking of you card

Week 3 of the Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop features the Beauty Bloom Original Die by Brenda Pinnick. It’s so versatile, you can do anything with it. I added some paint to my pieces and layered them outside and inside of the card to give it a cool effect.

I used a Movers and Shapers Die Set to create the card. You just lay the Four Window Panes die where you want it to cut within the main die and wa-la, it cuts the windows perfectly.

Supplies: Flower - Beauty Bloom Original Die #655455 by Brenda Pinnick, Felt – National Non-Wovens, Fabric – Couluer Vie by Brenda Pinnick for Henry Glass & Co., kraft cardstock (Bazzill), blue patterned paper (Sophie Bouquet, BoBunny’s Back to Backs), sentiment stamp (Everyday Sayings, Hero Arts), Music Background stamp (Hero Arts), black and white pigment ink (American Crafts), black pen (0.005, Zig Millennium), Movers and Shapers XL Die Set – Card With Four Window Panes (Sizzix), Big Shot (Sizzix), white acrylic paint.

wordless Wednesday: night

night

quick gift bag using Lawn Fawn stamps

I few things were going on to make this quick gift bag happen: I won a stamp set from Lawn Fawn and picked Critters in the Snow, they came in the mail and I couldn’t wait to use them. My youngest earned himself a prize and I needed something to put the prize into. I had about 15-20 minutes to make it happen before taking my daughter to an appointment. Combine all those elements and this is what you get…

He loved it… that made me happy. Maybe he just loved the prize inside, who knows! lol!

Supplies: Critters in the Snow stamp set (Lawn Fawn), “you did it” sentiment (Everyday Sayings, Hero Arts), Styled Labels (Tim Holtz Alterations, Sizzix), Dots, Circles, & Stars Textured Impressions (Sizzix), cardstock (my scrap drawer), lunch  bag, American Crafts black pigment ink, Blue Lagoon chalk ink (ColorBox), Tiny Attcher (Tim Holtz, Advantus).

Stop back by tomorrow for week 3 of the Sizzix Blog Hop!

Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop Week 2: Christmas Ornament

Welcome to week 2 of the Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop! Thank you so very much to everyone who stopped by! If you missed last week, just click here – week 1. I am blown away by all the different ways the house was created during week one… seriously awesome work.

This week’s featured die is Karen Burniston’s Twist Cube Die. I went a different direction and made a Christmas ornament. I know you’ll see plenty of twisting examples during the hop but if you’d like to check out one I’ve previously done, check here – Daisy Twist Cube.

My twist cube ornament…

I used a clear overlay to create the cube and placed my paper on the inside of the cube. This way, the photos and everything are protected from the tree branches so they don’t get all scratched up. Also, because I’m using paper and an overlay, both of which are very light, no branch will be dragged down and hanging low.

Notes: In the bottom right picture (pink with red dots), I used a date stamp to mark when the photos where actually taken. I added white paint around each square before I placed them inside the overlay.

Supplies: Sizzix Bigz XL Twist Cube 3-D Pop-Up Die #656739 by Karen Burniston, Sizzix Big Shot, clear overlay, patterned paper and punch outs from the Create Paper Snow Day Collection, Saddle Brown StazOn ink, white paint, alphabet stamps, craft tape (J and V Enterprises), Zip Dry Glue, ribbon. Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop Week 1: hopes and dreams house

Welcome to the first week of the Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop! I’m so happy you’re here. The first die featured is the Sizzix House 3-D Scoreboards Die.

Here’s my take on the house…

hopes-and-dreams 2
This little house is a place to keep your “hopes and dreams” written on strips of paper. I was originally going to make a slot in the top, kind of like a piggy bank, but I couldn’t bring myself to cut into it, I just thought it was way to pretty for that. I opted to make a pull tab with ribbon on the bottom so everything could be taken in and out from there.

Supplies:  Sizzix House 3-D Pro Scoreboards Die #656836 by Eileen Hull, Sizzix Big Shot Pro Machine, Sizzix 12x12 white mat board, My Mind’s Eye papers (Pretty Polka, Girlfriends, and Sisters Lace  from the Madison Avenue collection), acrylic paint, chalk ink (Chestnut Roan, ColorBox), alphabet stamps, black pen (0.1, Zig Millennium), ribbon, craft knife (Fiskars), craft tape (J and V Enterprises), Cameo Appearance Squeeze Punch (Large, Fiskars).

Who else is participating? Click here to find out – master list of designers.

Hope you’re enjoying the hop, just click on “hop forward” below (or in my side bar) to continue on…

Thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned for next Thursday!
