happy Halloween card

I’m getting into the Halloween spirit. I know it’s early but that’s how I roll, lol! When the fall season comes around I’ll do just about anything to convince myself it actually is fall… I don’t get a lot of that down here in the land of hot.

Supplies: kraft, black, and blue cardstock, white pen, Chestnut Roan chalk ink (Colorbox), Alabaster chalk ink (Colorbox), black patterned paper (Junkitz), yellow patterned paper, pop-dots. Bats, 3-D Bat, and Haunted House, Big Shot (Sizzix), It’s My Type (medium, Ma Vinci).

Simple and cute on the outside and then pow! a big ol’ fun cake on the inside taking it from simple to dynamic! I’m really loving the pop-up dies from Sizzix. I’m a simple scrapbooker and cardmaker, I’ve learned over the years that if it’s complicated and time consuming that I’m probably not going to do it. That’s why I really like the pop-ups, the dies do all the work for you... it looks difficult  but it’s not. It’s nice to be able to add a little something extra to a card that doesn’t take a lot of time… yet it makes it extra special.

Supplies: white cardstock, mat board, Scenic Route chipboard embellishment and sticker, all patterned papers from my scrap bin, Open Scallop Edger Punch, black pen, strong bond tape adhesive, Glue Arts Adhesive, Sizzix Big Shot, Sizzix Bigz Pop-up Cake.

Other Stuff

School started last Monday. I officially have a Junior, Sophomore, and 3rd grader. Everyone seemed to have a good first week which I am thankful for. I did spend some time finding extra school supplies – which is always difficult to do after school has started. The big kids never know what they’ll specifically need until the teacher tells them. Everything has officially been purchased! Unfortunately I had to buy a second pair of brand new shoes for my 8 year old because the dog ate his first pair (good times people, good times!). Hopefully this week will go just as smooth since we should all be in the swing of things.

Supplies: Bazzill cardstock, paper scraps from my drawer, Big Shot (Sizzix), Spinning 3-D Platform (Sizzix), Monster Fun stamps (Hero Arts), alpha die-cuts (Quickutz), black ink (American Crafts), black pen, XL Seal of Approval squeeze punch, Open Scallop edger punch, googly eye, sewing machine and thread.

wordless Wednesday: diet coke

“it’s my time to shine”

As crazy (or as silly!) as it sounds, I say this to myself three times a year. The two weeks before school starts, the two weeks before Christmas break, and the two weeks before school gets out. “It’s my time to shine!”

These are my busiest times of the year because there is so much to do in such a short amount of time. I always get everything done it’s just a matter of keeping my sanity while it’s getting done! All the school supplies have been purchased that I know about and school clothes are taken care of for two out of the three kiddos. Needless to say, I’m currently in running-around-like-a-chicken-with-their-head-cut-off mode.

I got to play with my new Lawn Fawn stamps! yeah! I love them! They are so adorable. I made these two cards for another challenge that was held for the Fiskateer online crop, challenge #25. The challenge was to use two different types of border punches. mission accomplished! I’m also showing an open view of the cards so you can see that one border is part of the front of the card and the other one is on the inside. The Lawn Fawn stamps are so nice, they ink up well with no beading – the very first time! Nice, crisp image… they’re perfect.

Supplies:  It’s My Type stamps (Lawn Fawn), Scallop Sentiment Border Punch, Threading Water Border Punch, chalk, black ink, black pen, kraft cardstock, black cardstock, ribbon.

more Fiskateer crop challenges to share

I made these two cards for the Fiskateer crop, challenge #14. The challenge was to use a button (or buttons) on a layout or two cards. I love that I got to use my new Hero Arts stamp. I’ll be honest, I was a little worried about the cupcake being such a big size but I thought it was to cute so got it anyway. I love the size! Big enough to make it the center of attention but not to big. It’s perfect! Here’s a better view:

Supplies: kraft cardstock, Large Cupcake (Hero Arts), sentiment (Cupcakes, Hero Arts), black ink, black pen, paper from my scraps drawer, buttons, Threading Water Border Punch.

I created this card for challenge #18 at the Fiskateer crop. The challenge was to use one of Becky Fleck’s PageMaps or CardMaps. I chose the CardMap and the option we were given was from March 2010. I used some Chatterbox stickers I’d had in one of my drawers for what seems like forever!

Supplies: cardstock (Bazzill), sentiment (Everyday Sayings, Hero Arts), black ink, stitched felt (Together, Chatterbox).

There’s one more thing I’d like to do for the crop and it’s not due until Wednesday. I may attempt it but time is a tricky thing during the week. We shall see. We’ve got to try the DMV again for the big kids (ack!) and the countdown for back-to-school is officially on so I have no idea what I’m going to get done. My plan is to play it by ear.
