I made this card for a challenge on the Fiskateer message boards for their online crop. It was to use black, white, and whatever color I chose. I hadn’t used colored pencils in a while… I need to brush up apparently. I was just happy to get to do something creative and play with my new stamps. :-)
Supplies: Bazzill cardstock, colored pencils, Monster Fun stamps (Hero Arts), ric-rac, black ink, black pen.
Ironic that I picked a monster with no arms for a card about hugs.
Yesterday on the Fiskateer message board there was an online crop (there is another one on Saturday too) and I created this layout for challenge #1. The challenge was to use three different shades of orange. If you aren’t a Fiskateer, I recommend you check it out. To join, all you have to do is email one of the Leads. The Fiskateers have a very nice, supportive community.
Supplies: paper from my scrap drawer, kraft cardstock, Scallop Sentiment Border Punch, buttons, It’s My Type (medium) MaVinci stamps, black pen.
New Stuff
I hit 50 things on my Use Your Stash Challenge and went a little crazy shopping… just a little. I figured I hadn’t spend any major money since September so it was okay. I definitely feel rewarded! I loaded up on stamps that’s for sure. Hero Arts and Lawn Fawn! I love how the Lawn Fawn stamps come wrapped up like a little present… makes me smile. Kellie Marie is a sweetheart, she wrote a little note to me… made my day!
New goodies: The Girls Paperie patterned papers (Shabby Flower, Pennants, Newsprint Stripe, Travel Ticking, Vintage Patch Work) and Market Trims, various Bo Bunny patterned papers (Petal Pushers - Cutout, Petal Pushers - Garden, Sophie Wildflowers, Sophie Silhouette, Sophie’s Notebook, Sophie Dot, Sophie Bouquet, Block Party Celebration) and Buttons & Bling (Sun Kissed, Bo Bunny), Seal of Approval Punch (Fiskars), Open Scallop Edger Punch (EK Success), kraft cardstock (because in my world it’s almost a requirement, lol!), white pigment ink (American Crafts), white pens (Ranger), another white pen (Signo) because I want to compare, and chalk ink (French Blue, ColorBox), Graph Background Stamp, 2 House Cling stamps, Large Cupcake Cling stamp, and Monster Fun Acrylic Stamps (Hero Arts), Swimsuit Season and Just My Type (Lawn Fawn) .
I guess I better start creating since I got all this new stuff!
It only took forever but I am officially done with my Use Your Stash Challenge. [insert obnoxious dance and embarrassing booty shake here!] Thanks to Karen and getting to work with the Sizzix Bigz dies, I actually went over my goal. yeah! It feels so good to accomplish a major goal. :-)

Will I do it again: ummmm…. not anytime soon. If I do, I am not picking 50 things again. It took me way to long and I even though I stuck with it, I lost motivation so sometimes it seemed like a pain. I am glad I did it though. It’s just that 50 is a lot!
How am I rewarding myself: new stuff baby!
*I did buy the Project Life kit in January because I knew it was going to sell like hot cakes but I had some Amazon credit so in my head it was totally justified, lol! whatever works…

I had the opportunity to create some projects with the new Sizzix Bigs Pop-up Dies that Karen Burniston created for CHA-S. Check out her blog to see what she made with them… she created some awesome projects! Karen’s friend Bonnie made some great projects too, so be sure to check those out. I had so much fun it was crazy! I made 10 things in 3 days… 10 things! You have no idea how cool these dies had to be for me to be that inspired! love them! When she said pop-up I had a flash back to when I first started scrapbooking but these are way better… I mean – WOW – WAY BETTER - they’re genius!

This is by far the easiest and quickest die to create with but it packs a big punch with a very cool effect!
If you wanted your creation to be even more dynamic you could add a second web. :-)

This die is so cool. It’s really detailed and might look complicated but it’s so simple to assemble. You could add more hearts, extra stuff to hang, add a photo in the center… anything! Endless possibilities!

This is such a clever die. You don’t have to make it a jack-0-lantern if you don’t wan to (hence the “happy harvest” one). Just like the bat you could make just about anything out of the circle/round piece.
You could even make a full round one similar to the hanging bat and make it into a name holder for a place setting. I might have to try that.

I think this die is a fantastic idea. We give a lot of gift cards and having something like this to fancy it up a bit is perfect.
One nice thing about this die is that you don’t have to use it for a gift card if you don’t want to. You could use it to make a regular pop-up with a sentiment or even add a photo.

This bat is so fun and the possibilities span way beyond Halloween because you could do just about anything with the circle shape.
My 15 year old son thought the bat was particularly cool. He kept hanging it in various places in my scrapbook room. I think I’ll need to make him one for his room.

I made this tag and card set for my best friend and her husband who are expecting their first baby in September. This past weekend I took a nice long drive (8 hours one way!) to visit them and attend their baby shower. It was a wonderful visit and I’m really glad I got to go! The new Garmin GPS my husband had me buy was really helpful too (and made it so I wasn’t so chicken to drive that far by myself). I’m not sure why I put up such a fight about getting one, it’s awesome!

I used a Cup Cards To Go sketch (#10 for June 2010) to make this card… it made it easy peasy! I also got to play with some new Lawn Fawn stamps I won… the flowers are so pretty!
I stamped the flower once on patterned paper and once on red cardstock and then cut them both out. I cut around some of the petals on the patterned paper, lifted the sections up, then glued it to the red. I stamped one more time onto my main piece then glued it again to give it a layered look.
Supplies: cardstock (Bazzill), patterned paper (Large Floral Rouge Paperie, Making Memories), flower stamp (Judy’s Blooms, Lawn Fawn), sentiment stamp (Everyday Sayings, Hero Arts), black ink, Quickutz Nesting Circles.

Stash Challenge Update
I’ve got a busy week ahead. I was hoping to be done with my Use Your Stash Challenge this coming week but I don’t see it happening. I’m so ready to be done with my challenge. If I did it again, I don’t think I’d pick 50 things! I’m ready to buy some new goodies now (or more like yesterday!). 50 was crazy to pick! lol! Only 5 more things to go! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! yeah!

It’s been a while since I’ve made a layout. I have to admit, I’m not in love with it… it didn’t turned out how I planned (at all!). I guess they all can’t be masterpieces and that’s okay, I’m fine with that. I do like it so I’m going to call it done and move on. One more layout for the books and another project done for my Use Your Stash Challenge… I’m good with that. :-)
