sunshine-laughter-ebtks16

I decided to participate in another awesome challenge from Everything But The Kitchen Sink. Challenge #16 was a fun one… to use fingernail polish on your project (see the challenge for full details)!

Supplies: black cardstock, blue cardstock (Bazzill), dot patterned paper and ledger paper (Scenic Route), white paint, Threading Water Border Punch, XL circle punch, sentiment (Hero Art’s Everyday Sayings), Versamark Ink, Embossing Powder, corner rounder, Martha Stewart Craft Glue, and fingernail polish.

I coated the chipboard butterflies with fingernail polish and then gave them a clear coat… pretty cool effect.

It’s a good thing I have a teenage girl in the house, I’m not much of a fingernail polish wearer but she’s got a bag full! If I wear it, it’s on my toes, and I’ve got a thing for black polish… which I was out of… anyway…

off the wall craftiness challenge #8

I decided to playing along with the Off The Wall Craftiness Challenge #8 this week. I’ll be the first to admit this color combination was outside of my comfort zone but I was up for the challenge and think my final creation turned out pretty decent. I wont embarrass myself and say how many times I photographed my final project… who knew yellow was so hard to capture!

The inspiration

Other stuff

Things are getting crazy with all the end of the year school stuff. Final concerts, physicals, banquets, finals, awards, a picnic… the list goes on. How come the first two weeks of school and last two weeks are always the most hectic?  I either need a nap or another Diet Coke!

Happy Wednesday!

randomness from this week

On Sunday I cooked something new… Pork Tenderloin with Chimichurri.

chimicurriMaking the chimichurri was messy but fun. It turned out really good! I’m not sure if I mentioned it before but Our Best Bites is one of my favorite recipe sites to visit. I really like to try new things and this site is always one of my first stops when looking for something new. If you haven’t stopped by there before, I highly recommend you check it out.

On Tuesday we got Miss Daisy fixed…

daisyfixed She was not a happy camper as you can imagine. I bought her a new toy as a consolation. She looks like she really cares doesn’t she?

On Thursday we celebrated a birthday…

15bday My oldest son is 15. That’s just so crazy to think about. Makes me feel old. Of course he had to try to play with the flame when I went to take the picture {eyeroll}. boys!

New desktop photo…

may2010I have a new favorite photo… love it! My sweet boy that was in serious need of a bath with Daisy (who was feeling much better).

Now I must go get organized… there will be 10 teenage boys at my house tonight! ack!

happy birthday card (EBTKS #15)

happy-birthday-ebtksc15

I absolutely adored the newest sketch from Everything But The Kitchen Sink. As soon as I saw what Kelly did with sketch 15 I was completely inspired to use it. I literally turned to the drawer where I keep my scrap papers and started pulling out what I wanted to work with.

Supplies: cardstock (Bazzill), patterned papers (Scenic Route), Upper Crest Border Punch, black pen, XL circle squeeze punch, circle cutter.

Use Your Stash total: 30 down, 20 to go.

I know it’s a ways off but I am working my way to creating 50 items for my use your stash challenge and I’ve found some incentive to get it done… stuff! Nothing like a prize to keep you going.

Prize Ideas

I haven’t decided just what I am going to reward myself with but it’ll definitely be something from this list… more than one probably! lol!

Enjoy your weekend!

birthday card (CPS sketch #166)

birthday-card-cps166 I’ve been staring at sketch #166 from CPS all week and I finally got a chance to use it today. I love when the sketches are simple because it’s easier for me to do my own thing.

Supplies: kraft cardstock, white paint, black pen, flower stamp, chalk ink, corner rounder, Threading Water Border Punch, Scenic Route products (chipboard flower, word stickers, and patterned paper).

oh Target, you had me at green!

For a few years now (at least three!) I’ve been looking for new bedding. Comforter, sheets, bed skirt, the whole nine yards. I could never find anything quite right… to busy, to bright, to dark, to plain. Not that I’m picky or anything, lol! So I was at Target and had pretty much given up on ever finding a bed set I liked but I still looked out of habit… and I found it. I couldn’t believe it! I went home and told my husband that I found the perfect set and he wanted to know why I didn’t buy it. Of course my reasoning was money. After I had added everything together that I wanted to buy – chaching! I believe his response was, “I don’t care how much it is, as long as I don’t have to hear you complain about not being able to find the perfect bedding then just go buy it.” ummm…. okay!

new bedding

So the next day… wa la! New bedding!

I am a happy camper!!!

Happy Mother’s Day

Because I’ve got more than one wonderful Mom in my life I made three cards and I wanted to share them…

For my Mom

Supplies: Making Memories card base, Dots and Flowers stamp (Hero Arts), VersaMark ink, chalk ink, Craft Glue (Martha Stewart Crafts), ribbon, flower, and glitter (Caribbean, Barbara Trombley’s Art Glitter).

I stamped with VersaMark ink and then went over the image with green chalk ink. I added a dot of Craft Glue in between each little stamp pattered and covered it all with glitter. I brushed off the excess glitter once it was all dry. I used a little bit of the Craft Glue under various parts of the ribbon to have it stay in place (I did this for the next card too).

Note: I love the Martha Stewart Craft Glue! I found it at Wal-Mart but our Michael’s carries it too. It dries fairly quick, dries clear, has a good hold, and the tip doesn’t clog. I’ve gone through several craft glues and the tip clogging is an issue, drives me a little nuts actually. I’ve used it for about 6 months  and no clogging yet... don’t know if it makes a difference but I do store it upside down.

For my step-Mom

Supplies: kraft cardstock (Bazzill), patterned paper from my stash, butterflies (Heidi Swapp), Fiskars Scallop Sentiment Border punch, ribbon, Craft Glue (Martha Stewart Crafts), and a 7 gypsies bracket stamp.

For my Grandma

Supplies: white cardstock (Bazzill), Fiskars Scallop Sentiment Border Punch, Heidi Grace flower, and patterned paper from my stash.

Use Your Stash total: 28 down, 22 to go.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mama’s and soon to be mama’s!

what’s up...

I haven’t properly blogged since my laptop died and I was using the upstairs computer… but things are getting back to normal now so here’s a bit of what was up…
  • We got new bedding… I’ve only been searching for a new comforter and sheet set for years now so it’s about time.
  • On Monday my youngest got a CAT Scan… poor kid has terrible sinus problems and the doctor wants to see just how bad so we can take some action.
  • My laptop is fixed! I got it back yesterday, a day early. I was so excited I almost hugged the FedEx guy.
  • I ordered a new Desktop computer for upstairs. The one that is there now is old and way slow (drove me crazy to use!), I thought the kids and the man might like an upgrade.
  • I’ll be sharing some cards on Sunday. :-)
I’m sure there is more but at the moment that’s all I got... just wanted to pop in and say hi!
